The largest lagoon in the Camargue (6,500 hectares, 12 km long, under 2 m deep), nicknamed the ’Grand Mar’. Protected since 1927, it lies at the heart of the national nature reserve. Swimming and fishing are forbidden in the protected part; the roads along it are open to all.
